Allergy
Allergists treat food and drug allergies, hay fever, asthma, insect stings, and immune disorders. Most allergies can be controlled with proper medical care.

Cardiology
A cardiologist is an expert in the function and diseases of the heart. Cardiologists perform and interpret tests such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), which indicate heart function.

Cardiologists treat heart diseases with medication, diet, and exercise programs. They also perform procedures such as cardiac catheterization, which is used to diagnose abnormalities of the heart and its vessels.

Dermatology
Dermatologists diagnose and treat skin problems, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. The
Specialty Services dermatologist has special training in skin cancer surgery and in using laser equipment for removing cancerous and benign lesions. The newest technology for phototherapy, using light for skin treatment, is also available.

The dermatologist will also perform nail surgery, use collagen injections for scars and wrinkles, and treat prominent superficial leg veins.

Endocrinology
This specialist treats disorders of the body’s glands that secrete hormones into the bloodstream. Endocrinologists treat diabetics as well as patients with thyroid, adrenal, or pituitary disease.


Gastroenterology

This specialty is concerned with disorders of the throat, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. Gastroenterologists sometimes order special X-rays to diagnose problems relating to digestion and elimination. They also perform procedures such as endoscopies and proctoscopies, which allow them to examine the interior of the throat, stomach, and portions of the intestine.

General Surgery
General surgery includes abdominal, head, neck, and varicose vein surgery. Thoracic surgery refers to surgery of the lungs, chest wall, and esophagus. Vascular surgery includes surgical treatment of blood vessel problems. Colon and rectal surgery involve treating ailments of the colon and rectum such as the removal of cancerous lesions.

Thoracoscopy, a special surgery to diagnose and treat conditions inside the chest, uses a miniature video camera. This surgery is easier for patients and has a much shorter recovery time.
Specialty Services

Neurology
Neurologists diagnose and treat diseases and traumatic damage of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. These physicians treat conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and head injuries.

Neurologists also prescribe and direct physical therapy to aid patients in regaining and maintaining as much bodily function as possible.

Occupational Medicine
A specialist in occupational medicine works with small and large business firms and their employees to maximize their good health.

Treatment of work-related illness or injury, evaluation of health hazards, and pre-employment physicals are among the services offered.

Oncology
Oncology is the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Cancer may occur in the bones, tissues, or blood.

Treatment may include chemotherapy, which is the controlled administration of chemicals, or radiation therapy, which is the administration of controlled doses of radiation. In some cases, surgery will be recommended to remove cancerous tissue.

Ophthalmology
Ophthalmology is the specialty diagnosing and treating eye problems through prescription of medication, corrective lenses, or surgery. At our Eye Center, ophthalmologists perform cataract surgery, including plastic lens implants, and radial keratotomy, a surgical procedure which can correct nearsightedness and astigmatism. They also use laser technology to treat certain conditions of vision loss that are associated with diabetes, glaucoma, and post-cataract surgery. 

For patients who need glasses or contacts, ophthalmologists prepare the prescriptions. For contacts, they fit the lenses and provide follow-up adjustments or check-ups.

Orthopaedic Surgery
Orthopaedics covers diagnosis and treatment of problems of the back, arms, legs, hands, and feet. Orthopaedists treat deformities related to birth or injury. They also treat growth problems and infections, as well as fractures and other traumatic injuries to the bones, muscles, and tendons.

Treatments include bracing,surgery, and therapy to improve the function of muscles, tendons, and the skeletal structure.

Otolaryngology
Otolaryngology is the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose and throat conditions. These specialists routinely handle tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies (removal of the tonsils and adenoids), nosebleeds, infections, sinus diseases, and treatment of allergies. These doctors often work closely with an audiologist to diagnose hearing and balance problems.

Pulmonology
Pulmonologists treat lung disorders and diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema.
They also treat occupational lung disorders (such as silicosis and asbestosis).Specialty Services

Rheumatology
Rheumatologists are specialists in diagnosing and medically treating arthritis conditions. These conditions include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoarthritis, spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, vasculitis, polymyalgia rheumatica, gout, Lyme disease, fibromyalgia and bursitis. Other types of problems seen are osteoporosis. These diseases can be treated to allow a patient to live a more comfortable and normal life.

Urology
These specialists diagnose and treat diseases affecting the genitals and urinary tract. Urologists treat diseases of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, and internal and external sexual organs. Urology services range from fertility counseling to the treatment of kidney stones to surgery.
